Grand Union Canal Half Marathon

Get away from the road races of London and enjoy the clean air and scenic surroundings of the Grand Union Canal.


The classic point-to-point race begins in Uxbridge (a short hop down from the Piccaddilly and Metropolitan Line station) and follows the iconic, historical waterside all the way up to Watford (for Metropolitan, Overground and National Rail services).


This race is offered twice per year, in peak trail running times of April and November, to make the best of the changing natural landscape. You’ll pass by houseboats to make you think of giving up dry land residing, pubs and country manors to inspire future trips and nature reserves that’ll make you wonder how you can only be 30 minutes from central London.


With a strict runner limit and a waved start to ensure plenty of room on the more narrow sections of towpath, you’ll have room to enjoy the adventure of the trails whilst amongst great company at all paces.


Coach Service - Optional Extra Booking


With the usual Purple Patch Running top-notch service, you’d be wise to book early and use their coach service – allowing you to register and leave a car at the finish, then be taken right to the start line. To allow us to manage capacity, places on coaches must be booked well in advance and are not available on the day.


If you’re using public transport, just drop your bag at the start and it’ll be taken to the finish ready for you to pick up and head straight off for a glorious Sunday pub reward.




The race starts at Cowley Recreation Ground, Cowley, Hillingdon, UB8 2EA. Please visit the venue website for current travel information but note that parking will only be available at the Race Car Park at Galliford Try, Cowley Business Park, High Street, Cowley. UB8 2AL.

The race finishes at Cassiobury Park, Watford, WD18 7HY. Near to the Cha Café at the Shepherds Road entrance to the park, access is available for pedestrians only. Please visit the park website for current travel and parking information.
